Going Places Sept. 22

Our last Senior Training was a couple weeks ago out on Cape Cod. We've been there before but didn't do all the tourist things. The couple assigned on the Cape prepared folders for us with pamplets, maps and directions to several different sights and we spent the whole day going up and down the Cape. It was a very fun day and fortnately the weather cooperated and it was beautiful!!!









We traveled down the road to Eastham, which is an upscale part of the Cape. A fact: during the storms a few days ago a house was washed into the ocean.....the coastline is receding at 3 feet per year and that brings some homes right on to the beach!! This home was the first one built on the Cape that had indoor plumbing!!! And hot running water. Woo Hoo!!!












I was nervous about where we were eating lunch but it turned out to be a great spot. They had the BEST skinny onion rings lathered in a sauce that was scrumptious



Standing in line reading the menu are Sisters Edward, Fuller and Durphey.

This is the Marconi site where supposedly the first trans-Atlantic wire was sent. From here you can see the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Cape Cod Bay on the other side.




This lighthouse was moved inland a ways and is open to walk up and see the view from a lighthouse perspective. Some of our missionaries were at the top.










This Nauset Lighthouse is a working lighthouse and the challange was to get a picture with the light shining at you!!! Which I did, after taking about 10 pictures!!!




These are the Three Sisters lighthouses which were moved from other sites. Now they sis in a forest area as tourist attractions.






Finally we drove into Provincetown which is at the very end of the Cape. It is now the hub of Gay Rights activities but the town is quaint, the beach houses rent for $5000 a week and the harbor is really nice. The Pilgrim's tower was built in the 1600's as a lookout to warn of invaders. They have wonderful fried dough.......
