Onward into Fall!!!

This came from our friends in New Delhi. Good thought, eh???

Elder Smith and his companion noticed that an investigator and his family had come to church early 2 Sundays in a row, something that would definitely stand out here in India. In a conversation with the man, without the elders directly asking him why, he shared the following.

He was someone who made calls on clients in his job and always made sure he was at least 5 minutes early for any appointment because he did not want to waste their valuable time. He continued that he considered coming to church to be an appointment with God and he did not ever want to be late for his appointment.

As a postscript, the family did join the church and they continue to set a great example for others in terms of consistently arriving early.

Seems like everything we do in the church is on "Mormom Standard Time" which is usually 10-15 minutes late. We could learn from the above example.

Sunday night in New Haven turned out to be a good session. We had 19 people in our mini workshop. The guy in this ward is a tiger....he's a human resource person for Walmart!! And he is training his ward leaders to be mentors for the unemployed which is what we've been trying to do!!!

Dad loves the rock walls that are so prevalent in landscaping here.

And now we launch into September. Tuesday was our one year mission anniversary!!! Didn't have any people to meet so we decided to take advantage of the good weather and go to he zoo!! It was a disappointment. One giraffe, a couple of zebras, some baboons inside, tropical forest stuff.....Hogle Zoo has it beat by miles!!! But the weather was sooo nice and the zoo grounds are beautiful. Then our anniversary dinner was at New London pizza!! Whoopee........

We drove down to Harvard Business School this afternoon (Wednesday). Dad wanted a picture of the chairs he sat in during his lunch hours back in 1963-64, in Baker Library, reading the Book Of Mormom, trying to decide if he should join "this" church. Well, the library went though massive reconstruction about 10 years ago and his "corner" no longer exists so this chair in the main library is as close as we could get!!! AND we found a great Chinese Buffet---the best one....it's called the Tin Tin..near Harvard in Brigton/Allston. Want Chinese food??? Come on out......

Now it's time to catch up on the family birthdays!!! The biggest birthday in August was my younger sister that turned 60!!!! How can I have a YOUNGER sister that old?? She looks pretty good, I think....and Al has a birthday in Sept.

Another sister had a 60 something birthday as does her hubby.

Cute Emma turned 7 with her frog.

Pretty Lucy is 1 and lovin it!!

And here Miss Lissa is 9.

Our happy cheerful Annie turned 4!

Our start football player, Taylor, is 17!!!

Brianna, our young lady in the family, is 19.

WOW..what's happening to Catrina??? She's going to be 30...on 9/11

Our "baby". Steve, turned 28.

I think that does it for the August and September birthdays. Dad reminded me that we have 27 more birthdays til we come home.....is that til 1 March or into May????

How on EARTH do you keep track of all those birthdays!!?!?!?!?! At your advanced age, you MUST have them written down somewhere...... Which reminds me, you forgot to mention YOUR birthday this month, in the coming week no less.

I bet you and your husband are great grandparents! I can't believe it's been a year since you left... I hope the tail end of your mission is just as adventurous.
