Museum of Fine Arts

Well, a rainy gloomy day out so we hopped on the "T" and went to the Museum of Fine Arts. Now we are NOT appreciative artists and I remember not doing very well in my college art history class. But this is one of the places in our "book" that I bought the tickets so decided we should get a little couth and go.

This is the Fenway entrance as the whole place is under construction and we had to tromp thru the pouring rain to get to the right entrance---of course it was the furthest away from the T station. Inside it's miles and miles of halls, corners, grand staircases, huge rooms, etc. with all kinds of art objects, paintings, stone, pottery, a bunch of Buddahs, Chinese stuff from the 1400's. It was fun to watch the middle school kids running around with their notebooks and pencils trying to anticipate what the "object" was trying to say!!!

We found two pictures worthy of keeping for posterity. First, Dad found his "perfect woman".

Then, outside on the grounds is this baby head----and I can guarantee it's bigger than any 10 cm I ever felt!!!

Nothing going on this weekend due to conference. Some people here can get it on BYU TV but the rest of us get it on the computer. Of course, everything is two hours later here. They run it at the chapel on satellite but last time no one came on Saturday but us and the Elders. On Sunday the ward has a big potluck dinner between sessions so there's a few more people there in the morn and then everyone comes for dinner!!!
We've been thinking about having some office hours as a trial to see if anyone would use it so we're just going to take a classroom in the Belmont Chapel and have office hours on Tuesday from 11-2 and Wednesday eve from 6-9. It'll only be people from this area as no one is going to drive 2 hours to meet with us. But even then, who knows. There's still just an "everything's OK" attitude.
We were supposed to go to Martha's Vineyard on Monday with the missionaries from Cape Cod but the forecast is for pouring rain all day so that's been postponed. And next week it's time to inspect apartments again!! It's a fun day to visit them, take them treats and find that they've never cleaned the ceiling fans :)Each zone now gets the "Golden Plunger" award for the cleanest apartment. It is exactly what it sounds like---a toilet plunger sprayed gold!! Who says missionaries don't have fun??:)
